anne maree barry says hi

I started this blog in 2007. No one had heard of The Wire and I was making experimental films that a select few saw. My initial tagline for this blog was: 'I write concisely. always. I'm trying to improve this - however, sometimes few words work better'. Then I found Twitter. However, I still post here once a week, so feel free to comment or just to simply say hii.

happy holidays

If I learnt something at piano lessons all those years ago - I would have posted something similar to this....
Happy Christmas - let the gorge fest begin. (if it hasn't already...)
Love A.M.

Living my Life faster

Living My Life Faster - 8 years of JK's Daily Photo Project from c71123 on Vimeo.
I stumbled upon this on YouTube last night and subsequently went to Jonathan Keller's website.
I have requested a night cream and eye cream from Santa to keep my skin supple, so this body of work kind of interested me - the aging process documented in eight years.

I told you that pork was unclean
I spotted the above, on a post-box on Ormond Quay, Dublin, after having my lunch at Soup Dragon.

bring it on!
As part of my Rialto Twirler project, and film, Mark Bryan the American Cheer Music producer is coming to Dublin, this Wednesday to make an exclusive remix for the Rialto Twirlers majorette troop. Mark is co-owner of Cheer Music School- where he teaches members of Cheer leading troops all elements of music mixing for routines. He has tutored and mixed Cheerleading Mixes for thousands of gyms across the U.S. His excellence was recognized when the producers of the Cheerleading Film Bring it On (2000, Peyton Reed) asked Mark to mix the music for the routines in the film.

Dr. Jonathan Ilan of A$$quake and I will be interviewing Mark later in the week. This interview will be screened at a seminar/dialogue evening at my studio, in the new year.

Below is a clip of the final routines from Bring it On. Who is better - East Compton Clovers or Rancho Carne Toros???

The Rialto Twirler Project and Film is kindly supported by the Arts Council, Common Ground and Still Films.

beardyman
I missed Beardyman at Twisted Pepper on Friday, due to other commitments. I heard he was crazy - beatboxing/mixing gabba and various other genres plus adding in some Venga Boys toddler songs. This is only a skill that I can aspire to. Below is a clip of Beardyman on Lily Allen and Friends. I like her interview technique - I don't know why she was getting so much slack from the press and critics.
